King Julien XIII, often shortened to King Julien, is a prominent character in the Madagascar franchise and a core member of The Penguins of Madagascar universe. He is a ring-tailed lemur and the self-proclaimed king of the lemurs.

Julien is characterized by his flamboyant personality, extreme narcissism, and unwavering belief in his own superiority. Despite his often misguided leadership and frequently annoying behavior, he genuinely cares for his subjects, though his concern is often overshadowed by his self-interest.

He displays eccentric behaviors, including a constant need for attention, a love of dancing and parties, and a peculiar fondness for his feet. His catchphrase, "I like to move it, move it!" has become widely recognized. In The Penguins of Madagascar, he serves as a recurring source of both chaos and comedic relief, frequently becoming entangled in the penguins' missions, much to their chagrin.
